LAC Digital Health Network

Towards collaboration, dialogue, and the exchange of knowledge and experiences among the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean to advance the digital transformation in regional health

What is RACSEL?

The Latin American and Caribbean digital health network, hereinafter referred to as RACSEL, is an initiative of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) supported by the Inter-American Development Bank. It is established as a systematic horizontal technical cooperation mechanism through which exchanges are promoted, multiplied, strengthened, and energized, aimed at developing, disseminating, and implementing best practices in digital health to support institutional development processes and their progress in the region.

MISSION

To promote collaborative work and cooperation in the field of digital health, so that the good practices and results achieved in one country can be leveraged by others, resulting in increased efficiency and effectiveness. This, in turn, leads to an improvement in the quality of healthcare services and overall social growth and well-being.

VISION

To be one of the main global networks of cooperation in electronic and digital health, and a reference in the dissemination, promotion, and adoption of standards, through dialogue, coordination, and the exchange of knowledge and experience

📌New projects! 🌐🚀

We are pleased to report that, this 2024, we will be working on two new projects funded through Regional Public Goods from the Inter-American Development Bank.

What will we be doing?

✅ Project 1. Create a trust network in Latin America and the Caribbean to improve access to health services for migrants.

✅ Project 2. Generate a regional agreement for cross-border #DigitalHealth data and services.

For this reason, last March 14-15 we held a workshop in Montevideo, Uruguay, to harmonize these projects and set them in motion.

📎Participating in this workshop were the President of #RACSEL and Secretary of Innovation of El Salvador, Daniel Mendez; representatives of the Executive Committee of RACSEL; the executing units Julio Ricaldoni Foundation and CENS - National Center for Health Information Systems; SE-COMISCA (Executive Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of Health of Central America and Dominican Republic) as strategic partner; representatives of the countries and experts from the #BID.

Launching and executing these projects requires the active participation of the participating countries. We started this execution with the commitment of Argentina, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Suriname and Uruguay. but we hope many more will join!

🌎🩺 From RACSEL, we support the IDB, the #PAHO Pan American Health Organization and the countries of the region in the construction of a Pan American Highway for Digital Health (#PH4H). All our efforts are aimed at achieving its consolidation.
