LAC Digital Health Network

Towards collaboration, dialogue, and the exchange of knowledge and experiences among the governments of Latin America and the Caribbean to advance the digital transformation in regional health

What is RACSEL?

The Latin American and Caribbean digital health network, hereinafter referred to as RACSEL, is an initiative of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) supported by the Inter-American Development Bank. It is established as a systematic horizontal technical cooperation mechanism through which exchanges are promoted, multiplied, strengthened, and energized, aimed at developing, disseminating, and implementing best practices in digital health to support institutional development processes and their progress in the region.

MISSION

To promote collaborative work and cooperation in the field of digital health, so that the good practices and results achieved in one country can be leveraged by others, resulting in increased efficiency and effectiveness. This, in turn, leads to an improvement in the quality of healthcare services and overall social growth and well-being.

VISION

To be one of the main global networks of cooperation in electronic and digital health, and a reference in the dissemination, promotion, and adoption of standards, through dialogue, coordination, and the exchange of knowledge and experience

News

Latin American and Caribbean countries are already preparing for the PH4H Connectathon 2025! 🌎

As every year, RACSEL is supporting these countries in their preparations for the regional connectathon through technical assistance. This includes a series of training sessions led by experts in #DigitalHealth. 💻

The first seminar will focus on introduce the fundamentals of HL7 standards, especially FHIR, as well as the use of semantic standards to implement interoperability processes in health. It will be led by Fernando Portilla, engineer and digital health specialist, and consultant for the IDB and RACSEL. The objective of these sessions is to strengthen participants' capacities and provide them with the tools necessary to successfully tackle the challenges of the connectathon.

Regional and national connectathons are a key element in building the Pan American Digital Health Highway (PH4H, for its acronym in English)—an initiative led by the Inter-American Development Bank, the Pan American Health Organization, and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, with support from the government of #Japan. In building this Highway, RACSEL serves as a strategic partner, contributing technical leadership to enhance local capacity in order to achieve regional interoperability. 🤝

Join us and let’s keep building the PH4H together!
